Leicester City Relegation: Players Face Up to 50% Salary Cut, Including Moroccan Star El Khannouss

If he stays at Leicester City, recently relegated to English second division, Moroccan international Bilal El Khannouss risks losing 50% of his salary.
Just one year after returning to the elite of English football, Leicester City sinks again at home. The club suffered a defeat against Liverpool (0-1) on Sunday, during the 33rd day of the championship, thus confirming its relegation to the Championship. This relegation to the English second division will not be without consequences on the players’ salaries. They will face significant salary cuts, which could go up to 50% next season, according to Cityam.com.
In parallel, the English club plans to "sell" some players this summer, such as Danish goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, Moroccan midfielder Bilal El Khannouss, and Republic of Ireland winger Kasey McAteer, who are in the sights of several clubs. If these players stay, they will lose between 35% and 50% of their salaries.
This is not the first time Leicester City has decided to review its wage bill downwards. Two years ago, the club had already lowered its players’ salaries following a relegation.
