Legendary Moroccan Jewish Singer Cheikh Mouizo Dies at 95

The Moroccan Jewish artist, Mousa Attia, nicknamed Cheikh Mouizo, died on Saturday, May 2, 2020. He was an icon of Moroccan Jewish song.
Born in Meknes, Morocco, Cheikh Mouizo began his singing career at the age of 25. He built a solid reputation in the music scene by performing popular songs and Malhoun, recalls the Morocco Jewish Times website.
The repertoire of the deceased, rich in more than 500 traditional songs from the Maghreb, as well as other written songs, testifies to his beautiful and long career as an artist. With his most famous songs: "Tanjiya", "Ma Kayan Kheir", "Ibrahim Al-Khalil", "A ibad Allah", "A labnat" and "Ghazali houa Sababi", Cheikh Mouizo established himself on the Moroccan and international music scene.
The songs of the late artist have crossed generations of Moroccan Jews. Cheikh Mouizo sowed joy in the hearts of his music lovers through concerts, at weddings and events celebrated by the Moroccan Jewish community.
