Lear Corporation Expands Automotive Parts Production in Tangier, Morocco

Lear Corporation has announced its intention to open a connection systems plant in Morocco in the third quarter of 2023. This plant will produce injection-molded parts and technical plastics for automotive manufacturers, suppliers and business units of electronic systems and seats.
The company plans to convert a 5,300 square meter facility in Tangier, previously dedicated to seat assembly. The employees of this unit have been transferred to other company plants in Morocco. Approximately 150 new jobs will be created following this conversion, for a total of more than 19,000 people spread over 17 sites.
Enrique Orta, Lear’s global vice president for electrical distribution systems and connection systems, said this plant should strengthen the company’s design and production capabilities in the region, allowing it to supply its customers with products on time, with high levels of quality and innovation.
The creation of this plant is part of Lear’s global vertical integration strategy and is expected to generate new activities and increase the company’s revenue.
