Landlord Arrested After Violent Eviction Attempt in Spanish Apartment Building

A Moroccan, owner of an apartment located in the Mas Iglesias neighborhood in Reus (Tarragona), evicted all the tenants of the building with a hammer on Thursday.
The 56-year-old Moroccan had given notice to the tenants, who ignored it. He then went to the apartment, armed with a hammer, and began to break everything he found. In his maneuver, he injured a 37-year-old tenant, reports El Caso.
The neighbors alerted the Mossos d’Esquadra and the local police of Reus, who quickly deployed a strong team to the scene. The Moroccan was arrested for the offenses of assault and battery and home invasion (although he is the owner).
The seriously injured tenant was transferred to the University Hospital of Sant Joan de Reus. Her vital prognosis is not, however, engaged. Other people, with minor injuries, were also taken care of.
The Mossos d’Esquadra of the Reus police station opened an investigation to elucidate the case. They will determine if the tenants had a current contract and were up to date or not with the rent payment.
