Kylian Mbappé is not only the captain of the French national team and one of the most followed players on the planet. For Moroccans, he is also a regular in Marrakech, where he returns regularly to escape the pressure of European football.

The ochre city has served as a refuge for the French player several times. In March 2025, while playing for Real Madrid, Mbappé chose Marrakech for a short vacation, accompanied by a few friends. A video posted on social media showed him strolling through the city.

It was not a first. In January 2024, the former Paris Saint-Germain player had already arrived in Marrakech with several close ones, to stay in a luxury hotel in the Hivernage district. A few months earlier, in June 2023, he had also enjoyed the city in the company of Eduardo Camavinga.

Marrakech, his refuge after busy seasons

The connection between Mbappé and Marrakech also dates back to the time of his highly publicized friendship with Achraf Hakimi. In June 2022, the two PSG players had spent part of their vacation in Morocco. Mbappé had even been spotted at the Marrakech du Rire, where his presence was very noticed by the public.

This stay also took on a more discreet and more human dimension. Mbappé and Hakimi visited children in an orphanage, during an outing near Marrakech, at Terres d’Amanar. A sequence that reinforced the image of a player attached to Morocco beyond simple tourist scenery.

Since then, Marrakech has returned several times to the private agenda of the French star. Between transfer rumors, PSG pressure, his time at Real Madrid and major appointments with the French team, Mbappé has often chosen Morocco to escape media agitation.
