Kuwait Airways Initiates New Round of Foreign Worker Layoffs Amid Financial Pressure

In 2020, Kuwait Airways had laid off 1,500 foreign workers in response to the significant financial impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This airline, which employs many Moroccans, is undergoing a new wave of layoffs.
Considerable financial pressure, attributed to inflated salaries and an oversized workforce, is pushing Kuwait Airways to terminate the service of foreign workers and retirees. The company "had previously employed some retirees with technical expertise to ensure operational safety," but "with recent appointments to fill these positions, the decision has been made to lay off some of these individuals."
Moroccan employees are certainly affected by this wave of layoffs. According to the explanations of Kuwait Airways, these measures aim to rationalize operations and support broader national employment and economic sustainability goals.
