Kushner and Ivanka Trump to Visit Moroccan Sahara Ahead of Trump's Return to Office

Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump are expected to visit Dakhla shortly as part of a private trip. A trip that comes a few weeks before the inauguration of the new US President Donald Trump, and could be seen as a harbinger of the renewed US support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara.

Jared Kushner had played a key role in the US recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara in December 2020, under Donald Trump, who won the November 5 presidential election and will be sworn in next January. With Trump’s return to the White House, Kushner will certainly regain his place within the Trump administration and in US diplomacy.

This is not the first time that Kushner has visited Dakhla, in the Moroccan Sahara. He had already visited the Moroccan city in 2019 with his wife Ivanka Trump, as part of his program to empower women economically, recalls Barlamane.com.

But this announced visit of Kushner to Dakhla comes a few weeks before the official inauguration of Donald Trump. Although private, it could help strengthen the strategic partnership between Rabat and Washington as early as 2025.

This trip by Kushner would aim to highlight the key role of Dakhla as a strategic hub for the development and stability of the region. Several large-scale projects in the fisheries, renewable energy and luxury tourism sectors will be developed in this Moroccan city.
