King Mohammed VI to Unveil Casablanca Airport’s New $170 Million Terminal

King Mohammed VI is expected to inaugurate the Terminal 1 of Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca this week.
The date has not yet been set, but this inauguration would be imminent, according to sources cited by the Médias24 website, which even mentions this Tuesday, January 15.
The work, which cost 1.7 billion dirhams, was completed last summer, almost a decade after it began, following changes in plans and stops that lasted for many months.
Terminal 1 is equipped with 8 telescopic jetways, 12 moving walkways, escalators and elevators, automated baggage handling systems equipped with the latest technologies for the detection of explosives, drugs and hazardous materials, 84 check-in counters, 64 passport control positions and 19 boarding gates, a ministry of transport press release said at the time.
It will increase the capacity of the Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca to 14 million passengers per year.
