King Mohammed VI May Visit Mauritania in March 2025

King Mohammed VI could make an official visit to Mauritania in March 2025, according to local media sources.
If it materializes, this visit would take place on the sidelines of the meeting of the joint high commission between the two countries. The last session of this bilateral cooperation body was held two years ago, in March 2022. The trip of the Moroccan sovereign would therefore coincide with a resumption of these high-level exchanges.
The newspaper Al Akhbar indicates that the visit of the Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to Rabat a few days ago, and his audience with King Mohammed VI, have paved the way for an intensification of bilateral relations. The Mauritanian media specifies that "the Mauritanian-Moroccan relations will experience an unprecedented boom in the coming months."
During their meeting, the two heads of state had expressed their willingness to develop common strategic projects. These include the Africa-Atlantic gas pipeline, which would connect Nigeria to Europe via several West African countries. There is also the initiative to facilitate the access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.
The talks between the Moroccan sovereign and the Mauritanian president had made it possible to welcome "the positive evolution of the Moroccan-Mauritanian partnership in all areas." They also reaffirmed their commitment to coordinate their contributions within the framework of the royal initiatives in Africa.
