King Mohammed VI Launches $200 Million Youth Entrepreneurship Program in Morocco

King Mohammed VI presided, on Friday at the Throne Room of the Royal Palace in Rabat, the signing ceremony of two agreements relating to the contribution of the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development to the "Integrated Program to Support and Finance Enterprises". It is estimated at a budget amount of 2 billion dirhams at zero percent.
Present at this ceremony, the Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development, Dounia Ben Abbas Tâarji, presented the provisions made by the Hassan II Fund in favor of entrepreneurship in the rural world.
According to the official, this contribution will be dedicated to supporting entrepreneurship projects in the rural world, representing a quarter of the financing of this integrated program.
According to her, the amount of 2 billion dirhams provided by the Hassan II Fund at a zero percent rate, comes in support of the banks, and first of all the Agricultural Credit of Morocco. She also noted that this contribution from the Fund has made it possible to lower the interest rate within the framework of this program initiated by the King to a historically low level, capped at 1.75%.
This program takes into account the projects of small or very small agricultural or non-agricultural enterprises, self-entrepreneurs or young project leaders, innovative young companies, and small agricultural holdings (natural or legal persons).
"Future investment projects within the framework of the Melkization operation of collective lands are also eligible," she added, noting that "for agricultural projects, the type of eligible projects must be compatible with the vocations defined within the framework of the national agricultural development strategy and in particular by encouraging crops with higher added value".
