King Mohammed VI Condemns ’Deliberate Aggression’ Against Morocco
Saturday 21 August 2021, by
King Mohammed VI reacted on Friday to the latest attacks targeting Morocco "from certain notoriously hostile countries and organizations" that he did not name.
The sovereign evoked in his speech delivered on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the "revolution of the king and the people", "a deliberate and premeditated aggression". He also denounced "a vast campaign of denigration" against the security institutions.
Returning to the underlying reasons for this relentlessness against the kingdom, the Moroccan sovereign explained that the country "is targeted because it is a fully constituted state for more than twelve centuries, in addition to a long-standing Amazigh history, and that for more than four centuries it has been governed by a citizen monarchy, presiding over the destiny of the country and shaping it in a total symbiosis between the Throne and the people".
"Morocco is also targeted for its security and stability, these particularly precious assets in these times of convulsions and upheavals shaking the world," he argued.
And to continue that "nevertheless, Morocco’s good reputation, its undisputed place in the concert of nations, as well as its broad and dense relational network, make it a trustworthy country and confer on it solid credibility at the regional and international levels".
And to add that "moreover, some countries, including European countries paradoxically among Morocco’s traditional partners, fear for their economic interests, their markets and their spheres of influence in the Maghreb region".
These detractors want to "precipitate Morocco into a spiral of problems and conflicts with certain countries", because, the king points out, "they do not want to admit that the rules of the game have changed, that henceforth our countries are fully capable of managing their affairs, of developing their resources and their potentials, in the well-understood interest of our peoples".
For the Sovereign, "all kinds of legitimate and illegitimate resources have been mobilized, with a distribution of roles and the deployment of impressive influence devices".
But every cloud has a silver lining: through their maneuvers, "the enemies of our territorial integrity only strengthen the faith and the determined commitment of Moroccans to defend the Homeland and its supreme interests," he raised.
In this regard, the king affirmed that the Moroccans under his leadership are "determined to resolutely maintain the course, much to the chagrin of the irritated adversaries and the envious consumed by the hatred for our country".
