King Mohammed VI Arrives in Northern Morocco for Eid al-Adha Celebration

King Mohammed VI has chosen to celebrate this year’s Eid al-Adha in the city of M’diq, located in the north of the kingdom.
The Sovereign arrived by plane on Monday afternoon in Tetouan, where he was warmly welcomed by the city’s residents who lined up along the road to greet him. The royal procession then headed to the royal residence in M’diq.
Mohammed VI is expected to stay in the northern city until June 6, the announced date for the celebration of Eid al-Adha, where he will perform the ritual sacrifice on behalf of the nation.
In a royal message delivered in February by the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, the king had urged Moroccans to refrain from sacrificing animals on the occasion of this festival due to the adverse effects of drought on the national livestock.
The authorities of Tetouan, M’diq, Fnideq, and Martil have carried out renovation and beautification works on several main streets and public squares in recent weeks to give a warm welcome to King Mohammed VI.
