The bus company, Karama bus, was fined 100 million dirhams by the Kénitra City Hall. It is accused of numerous dysfunctions in the management of public transportation, causing inconvenience to the city’s citizens.
This dispute that arose between the City Hall and its service provider, Karama bus, a subsidiary of the City Bus Transport group, which also operates in Fez, Meknes, Tetouan, El-Jadida and Oujda, follows the dissatisfaction of the city authorities.
Indeed, they were informed following reports made by the Control and Monitoring Commission, which revealed a violation of the specifications and serious malfunctions.
In addition to the 100 million dirham fine, a threat of contract termination hangs over this transport company. According to the municipal authorities, it will be terminated within three months if Karama bus does not meet their demands.
Furthermore, the Municipal Council is demanding the acquisition of 80 new buses before the end of 2019 and better quality of service for exasperated citizens, the same source reports.
On the side of the Group’s subsidiary, the fine is contested. It intends to file a complaint soon. According to the same source, Karama bus would be ready to file a complaint and claim damages of 300 million dirhams.
The company accuses the city authorities of negligence in the face of the proliferation of illegal transportation, as well as the destruction of buses and the aggression of inspectors.
