Kenitra Cracks Down on Illegal Sidewalk Encroachment, Sparking Mixed Reactions

A vast operation to free the public domain has been underway for a few days in the city of Kenitra.
The operation aims to put an end to the illegal occupation of the public domain by businesses, cafes, restaurants, gyms and other establishments. Several owners of these stores have set up without authorization and with the complicity of the local authorities, denounce sources on the site Rue20, also calling for an end to the illegal practice of "payment per square meter".
The operation is diversely appreciated by the inhabitants of the municipality. While some welcome the initiative that will free certain neighborhoods and streets from the grip of merchants and influential people, others believe that it is creating prejudice to some merchants who are up to date with the municipality.
