Japanese Auto Supplier Shifts Ukraine Operations to Morocco Amid War

The war in Ukraine is forcing Japanese Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze (SEBN) to relocate its activities to Morocco. The automaker had suspended its activities since the end of February.
The war in Ukraine is having an impact on the activities of Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze (SEBN), a supplier of electronic cable harnesses and components for the international automotive industry. The manufacturer has decided to relocate its production to Romania and Morocco, reports the economic daily Nikkei. The operation will cost more than 10 billion yen (more than 75 million euros) and will be fully financed by Volkswagen, a key client of SEBN.
In total, 6,000 employees work for the Japanese automaker in Ukraine, where it has suspended its activities.
