Japan Grants Morocco $200 Million Loan to Combat COVID-19 Pandemic

A loan agreement of $200 million from Japan has been granted to Morocco. Its objective is to support the Kingdom’s efforts in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The agreement was signed this week in Rabat by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mohamed Benchaâboun, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Morocco, Takashi Shinozuka. The event is part of the strengthening of the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and Japan.
This support was co-financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) under the ACFA (Accelerated Co-Financing Facility for Africa) program, and will allow Morocco to have additional resources to help carry out emergency health and social interventions and improve the resilience of the national economy.
