Japan Establishes Investment Desk in Morocco to Boost Economic Ties

Create a direct consultation point within the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE). This is what Morocco and Japan have agreed on, on Monday in Rabat, based on the progress of the cooperation.
Called the "Japan Desk", this initiative is part of the consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries and aims to support Japanese companies in their investment projects in Morocco, explained the Minister of Industry, Trade, Green Economy and Digital, Moulay Hafid Elalamy.
According to Minister Elalamy, "this desk will allow us to receive all the complaints, expectations and requests for information from Japanese investors." The minister, who spoke at the end of a meeting held with the Japanese Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shinichi Nakatani, stressed that Morocco represents a growth and competitiveness relay for investors, particularly Japanese companies.
Moreover, it should be noted that "the first private employer in Morocco is Japanese," Elalamy pointed out, stressing that the economic relationship between the two countries has not yet exhausted its potential.
For his part, Nakatani, at the head of a joint delegation from the Japanese public and private sectors, who made this visit from February 16 to 18, described the Moroccan-Japanese relations as excellent. He also stated that this visit reflects Japan’s commitment to continuing the efforts made during TICAD 7 for the benefit of private investment on the African continent. In 2018, Japanese direct investment in Morocco reached 1.56 billion dirhams (MMDH), making Japan the fifth largest investor nationally.
It should be noted that 70 Japanese companies are established in Morocco, employing more than 40,000 people.
