Jack Lang Reappointed as Arab World Institute President in Paris

Jack Lang’s term has just been renewed at the head of the Arab World Institute (IMA). The institution, which announced the news on Friday, thus demonstrates its great confidence in the former French Socialist Minister of Culture.
The news of Jack Lang’s reappointment as head of the IMA was released this Friday morning in Paris, after a meeting held by all the ambassadors of the Arab countries that make up the institution, as well as the Board of Directors.
Built by Jean Nouvel and inaugurated in 1987, the IMA has distinguished itself by organizing remarkable activities. This is the case, in particular, of the flagship exhibitions on "Christians of the East" in 2017, sometimes organized in partnership with Arab countries. Concerts, conferences, performances, festivals are also to the credit of the IMA, which is cited as the largest museum of Arab art in Europe.
Jack Lang was Minister of Culture from 1981 to 1986, then from 1988 to 1993, and also of National Education, from 2000 to 2002. This great loyal to François Mitterrand, whom he served for a long time, was appointed in 2013 to the presidency of the IMA by the former Socialist President, François Hollande.
