Israeli Minister Dons Moroccan Caftan for Mimouna Festival, Celebrating Cultural Ties

The resumption of relations between Morocco and Israel is making Israeli citizens of Moroccan origin happy, who no longer miss any opportunity to display their identity. This is the case of the Israeli Minister of Transport Miri Regev, who, on her Facebook account, shared a photo of herself wearing a Moroccan caftan on the occasion of the Mimouna festival, celebrated on April 3 last.
The choice of this traditional outfit takes into account the fact that Mimouna is a popular festival celebrated for many centuries in Morocco. It is a festival during which the faithful invite their neighbors, Jews and Muslims, to share a meal in order to mark the end of the Passover period (the Jewish Passover), against a backdrop of Arabo-Andalusian or chaâbi music.
In the photo shared by the minister, we can see her tasting one of these delicious dishes shared during the festival. This is the moufleta, or the zaban. Mimouna is a festival of sharing, of communion between the different religious communities. Tradition has it that the first bread after Passover introduced into the house is a gift made by Muslim neighbors to their Jewish neighbors.
