Israel Strikes Iran's Nuclear Facilities: Moroccan-Israeli Jews Defend 'Necessary' Action Against 'Iranian Threat'

Many Moroccan-born Jews living in Israel have welcomed the recent Israeli attack on Iran, considering these strikes necessary to protect the security of the "Hebrew state" in the face of the "hostile intentions of the Khamenei regime in Tehran" and what they have described as the "growing Iranian threat".

Last Friday night, Israel carried out strikes targeting nuclear facilities on Iranian territory, which resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian military and nuclear scientists. Intervening after this attack, the President of the World Union of Moroccan Jews in Marrakech recalled that "the Iranian regime persists in its desire to acquire nuclear weapons in order to erase Israel from the world map, an objective that the Iranians do not hide," adding that "Israel has shown great strategic patience towards Iran, despite Tehran’s support for Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis in Yemen, who use Iranian weapons to strike Israel".

In a statement to Hespress, he explained that "the State of Israel cannot allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons [...]; Israel therefore has the right to defend its existence and the lives of its citizens against this Iranian danger, which threatens not only Israel, but also the region and the whole world, because Iran carries a dangerous expansionist project". He went on to say that "Israel will win this war thanks to its advanced military and technological capabilities, which make Israeli armaments the most sought-after in the world today" and that "if Iran wants to live in peace, it must renounce its nuclear dream, otherwise it will suffer the fate of many countries that have harmed the Jews, and whose destiny has been disappearance, like Nazi Germany".

A Moroccan-born Israeli citizen, for his part, declared that "it is incomprehensible to know what Iran wants from Israel and the region as a whole, because Tehran is located thousands of kilometers from Israel, and yet it insists on targeting Israelis through its proxies in the region," noting that "if Iran were a neighbor of Israel, it could be understood to some extent". "Israel has the full, legitimate right to defend itself against Iranian threats, including by carrying out preventive strikes against Iranian facilities suspected of being linked to Tehran’s nuclear program," he insisted.

And he added: "The Americans have proposed an agreement to Iran to establish peace in the region, but the latter has continued to prevaricate and defy the international community, which has shown no firmness in the face of Tehran’s nuclear ambitions." For the President of the Association of Jews of Marrakech, "Israel seeks nothing more than to live in peace in the region, and has resorted to the military option only out of necessity to guarantee its national security." According to him, "this war is not aimed at the Iranian people, but at the Iranian leadership, which seeks to stir up conflicts and tensions in the service of its agenda and its declared objectives in the region".
