Islamist PJD Party Challenges Election Results After Historic Defeat in Morocco

After a decade at the head of the government, the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) collapsed at the polls on September 8 and is having trouble accepting its defeat. The Islamists are discrediting the transparency of the elections.
Some Islamists are resorting to insults and slander after the historic setback of the PJD in the recent legislative and municipal elections. The Lamp party is playing the role of the bad loser and is even going so far as to discredit the transparency of the elections by overwhelming the Ministry of the Interior, analyzes Maghreb Intelligence. They have also cast doubt on the credibility of the country’s institutions and the legitimacy of Parliament.
"If they have evidence of the irregularities they are talking about, they only have to go to court and file appeals before the Constitutional Court," comments a political scientist based in Rabat. "Instead of agitating in all directions after a sanction vote of the people that speaks for itself, the PJD must do a self-criticism and review all its action and all its organization. Otherwise, the history of Morocco will be written without them and they will remain a mere parenthesis," he adds.
