ISIS-Linked Terror Cell: Four More Suspects Arrested in Morocco's Errachidia

The terrorist cell affiliated with the Islamic State recently dismantled in Errachidia has not finished revealing its secrets. In total, four new arrests were made on Wednesday in the same city.

In a statement, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) announces that it has arrested on September 16, 20 and 22, four other individuals for their alleged links with the plans of the terrorist cell affiliated with the "Daesh" organization, dismantled in Errachidia on the 14th. Elements of the General Directorate of National Security also participated in these operations.

The arrest of these four accused persons comes in the wake of the ongoing investigations and inquiries into this case, conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism cases, with a view to arresting all the members active within this terrorist cell, elucidating its ramifications and its links at the national and international levels, as well as identifying all its destructive projects and plans aimed at seriously undermining public order, the BCIJ said.

It also specified that the preliminary data from the investigation being carried out by the BCIJ following the dismantling of this terrorist cell reveal that its members have pledged allegiance to the so-called "Daesh" emir and joined a campaign of recruitment and indoctrination for the benefit of their terrorist organization, for which they have chosen the name "Jamaât Attawhid Al Islami Bi Al Maghrib".

The members of this cell were preparing to carry out terrorist acts on the national territory, targeting security and military installations and a list of officials working within security and military services and public administrations through the modus operandi of individual terrorism, either by poisoning or physical liquidation, the BCIJ further points out, adding that they have expressed their willingness to indoctrinate and recruit to join "Wilayate Khorassan", considered as the new haven of terrorist organizations. They have also expressed their support and blessing for the recent terrorist operations targeting the capital’s airport in Afghanistan, the BCIJ notes.

These new arrests bring to seven the number of people arrested in connection with this cell. They have been placed in custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation conducted by the BCIJ under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
