Morocco Thwarts Daesh-Linked Terror Plot in Tangier, Seizes Explosive Materials

The equipment and products seized within the extremist cell affiliated with "Daesh", dismantled in Tangier on October 6, can be used in the manufacture and preparation of conventional explosives.
This is what the experts of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) concluded after in-depth analyzes on the terrorists’ arsenal. After having thwarted them and prevented a terrorist attack on Moroccan soil, the scientific services of the DGST indicated in a press release that the products and materials seized on the spot, after their mixing, are used in the preparation and manufacture of explosive devices.
According to the experts, these are two boxes of sulfur considered as a reducing and flammable product and four bottles of hydrochloric acid with high acidity, used as a chemical catalyst in the preparation of certain explosive products, in addition to a three-liter can of concentrated bleach containing sodium hypochlorite.
In addition to these chemicals, the metal and electrical objects found on the spot can be used to create projectiles or detonation devices, the experts point out, citing among others two kilograms of nails, electrical circuits and a high-voltage halogen bulb.
A detailed expert report has been made available to the BCIJ as part of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, responsible for terrorism cases, it is further specified.
