Iranian Star Reveals Desert Adventures with DiCaprio: Farahani’s Candid Memories from ’Body of Lies’ Set
Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, president of the jury for the 51st edition of the Deauville American Film Festival, recounts her professional experience with Leonardo DiCaprio in the Moroccan desert.
Golshifteh Farahani and Leonardo DiCaprio participated in the filming of "Body of Lies", an American-British spy film - directed by Ridley Scott and released in 2008 - in the Moroccan desert. An enriching and unforgettable experience for the Iranian actress. "Leonardo DiCaprio, we were really buddies. When I was young, I was always very much a tomboy. We stayed in Morocco for a total of four months, we went go-karting in the desert, jet skiing, we played volleyball," recounts Farahani. She cannot help but praise the values of the American actor.
"He is a very down-to-earth man. He is deeply human. His fame has never exceeded his humanity. He always put me at ease, especially in the scenes where I had to touch him in front of the camera, which I was not at all used to doing. It was truly a wonderful encounter." The Iranian actress adds: "I saw him recently at a dinner. He told me that a journalist had jokingly told him that I had been assassinated. It had upset him. It was of course a joke. He has retained great human values."
