Iran Supplies Kamikaze Drones to Polisario via Algeria, Raising Tensions in North Africa

Algeria, an ally of the Polisario against Morocco in the Sahara conflict, is playing the role of intermediary to Iran to provide kamikaze drones to the militias of the separatist movement. Such a collaboration constitutes a direct threat to Morocco and the entire North African region, analyzes the daily Al Ahdath, recalling that the European Association of Journalists (AEJ) had already alerted in a column on this transfer of weapons of mass destruction to the Polisario, considered as an entity having links with terrorist groups.

Before the AEJ, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, had stated that "the issue of non-state armed actors, including the Polisario, has become a phenomenon threatening regional and international peace and security, knowing that the access of these actors to advanced weapons and technologies is very dangerous".

Taking advantage of its war against Iraq (1980-1988), the Iranian regime has set up a sophisticated military industry based on "intercepted or shot down American models then dismantled and cloned", indicates the AEJ on its website. "This death industry has developed to manufacture, internally, kamikaze drones without resorting to contraband spare parts and engines. Today, Iran has become both a manufacturer and a supplier of very sophisticated drones," it is noted.

"The Iranian regime not only supplies drones to Russia, but also provides the Polisario militias and other countries," reads the article titled "Drones and deadly modifications of the rules of war". The author recalls that "Moroccan diplomacy had alerted the international community to the maneuvers of the Iranian regime which, in collusion with Algiers, arms the Polisario militias to carry out attacks against Morocco".
