Morocco’s Security Chief Warns of Iran-Hezbollah Threat, Cites Polisario Support

In the eyes of Habboub Cherkaoui, Director of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), the proximity between Iran and Hezbollah "represents a threat to the stability and security of Morocco."
"There is a real threat against Morocco that comes from Iran and Hezbollah with the help of Algeria. Since 2017, Iran has been supporting the Polisario separatist front through Hezbollah and with the help of Algeria. This Iranian support is a source of destabilization for the Kingdom of Morocco," said Habboub Cherkaoui, in an exclusive interview with i24NEWS as part of the Defense program. To support his words, the head of the "Moroccan FBI" stated that Iran is providing the Polisario with surface-to-air missiles and drones through Hezbollah, with the help of Algeria. According to him, the Islamic Republic is seeking to establish itself in North Africa and the Sahel.
Cherkaoui believes that "the most important thing to fight these threats is to conclude agreements such as the Abraham Accords, signed with Israel and the United States." "The Abraham Accords have strengthened strategic and security relations through the exchange of intelligence and expertise. All these elements are in the interest of all parties and will help stem the scourge of terrorism and organized crime," he said. And he added: "The Abraham Accords were established to seek peace and security and counter the expansionism of Iran and Hezbollah".
