Investigation Reveals Network of Fake Moroccan Accounts Promoting Israel on Social Media

Eekad, an investigative platform in the Arab region, claims to have unmasked fake Moroccan accounts supporting the normalization of relations with Israel. Will Qatar be behind this investigation?

"As you follow the developments of the +Al-Aqsa Deluge+ operation, you have surely noticed the emergence of certain Moroccan accounts that strongly support Tel Aviv, fiercely attack the Al-Qassam Brigades and the resistance and the offensive against Israel," begins Eekad. To conduct its investigation, the platform analyzed these accounts on X, and said it discovered that they are in fact organized accounts with several characteristics that confirm this. They repeat the same terms with precision, the same emojis are used in the same order, interact with the same well-known accounts, it explains.

To read:

"By taking a large sample of these accounts and examining their previous activity, we noticed that most of them were created or increased their activity shortly before December 2020, i.e. prior to normalization with Israel," writes Eekad. Deduction: these accounts were created to "prepare for normalization and generate popular support in its favor". One of these accounts is "Dr. David Levy". "The young Levy with European features is a fictional character and his photo does not exist. By analyzing it, we found that it was created using artificial intelligence," the platform further explains.

These revelations have elicited the reaction of several Moroccan accounts. Many of them accuse the Qatari "deep state" of being involved in Eekad’s investigation. The account Simo Ben claims that Eekad is one of the media branches financed by Qatar and led by Azmi Bishara, an Israeli Arab, former member of the Knesset. Qatar’s praise for Eekad, which it had, in an old article published by the Al-Araby Al-Jadeed (The New Arab) media, described as a "leading" platform in the Arab world in terms of investigations and investigations, tends to prove that this country of the Arabian Peninsula is behind the investigation.

"The analysis of the content published by Eakad and the evidence presented demonstrates the solidity of the conclusions. Israel’s infiltration strategy is a form of information warfare (called Hasbara in Hebrew or propaganda) that aims to manipulate Moroccan public perception as well as in other Arab countries," stresses Marouane Harmach, founder of Consultor, a consulting firm in digitization and digital communication, to H24info, explaining that "these accounts seek to create a false image of national consensus or social acceptance. This can lead to support for normalization with Israel among Moroccans on the basis of this erroneous perception of the majority using fake accounts and bots".
