Investigation Launched into Suspicious Deaths of 3 ICU Patients in Moroccan Hospital

Three patients died from asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen after being admitted to the intensive care unit in a hospital in Essaouira. An investigation is underway to shed light on this case.
Admitted a few days ago to the resuscitation department of the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdella hospital center, two women and one man died from oxygen asphyxiation, reports the Arabic daily Assabah. According to the hospital authorities, it is a natural death. Not enough to convince the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered an autopsy after suspending the delivery of the bodies to the relatives of the three deceased patients. The real causes of their death should therefore be determined.

The night before the tragedy, the head of the intensive care unit had called the chief physician at night to explain that his department was facing a shortage of oxygen. "The two officials tried to contact the hospital’s economist to intervene urgently to resolve the situation, but in vain," the same source said. After receiving a report on the three deaths, the hospital management could open an internal investigation.
In addition to the resuscitation department of the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah hospital center, the emergency department is also facing a serious shortage of oxygen.
