Interfaith Effort in Spain Provides Ramadan Meals to Homeless Youth

Christians and Muslims in Vizcaya, Spain have carried out a joint action during this Ramadan month. They have distributed hot "harira" to the needy.
The food was distributed primarily to homeless youth in the city. In previous years, they benefited from a dinner at the mosque, which could not materialize this year due to the health crisis, according to Mundoislam. About 400 people were impacted by this initiative supported by the Delegation for Interreligious Dialogue of the Diocese of Bilbao and the Evangelical Council of the Basque Country.
The food is packaged in takeaway dishes by a team based at the Norai Association premises. Another team then takes care of the distribution. Apart from this action, "there are also families who welcome the young people to their homes to break the fast," says the head of the interreligious dialogue delegation, Miguel Ángel Esnaola.
During this Ramadan month, the popular (public and denominational) canteens of Bilbao and Biscay also remain open and continue to serve food to those in need.
