IMF Chief Praises Morocco’s Economic Progress During Rabat Visit

During her working visit to Morocco, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, stated that Morocco is one of the few countries in Africa to have 22% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the form of revenues.
She made this statement during an exchange and sharing meeting on Thursday in Rabat with students from Mohammed V University, Ibn Tofail University and the International University of Rabat (UIR).
Kristalina Georgieva did not spare her praise for the efforts made by the Moroccan authorities. She also noted that "the Kingdom has made good progress thanks to the various reforms undertaken". She added that "Morocco can be a source of inspiration for other countries".
Within the IMF, "we want to be Morocco’s partners and support the reform of the administration and the tax system to ensure that public spending meets the aspirations of Moroccan citizens," said the head of the international financial institution, who made a working visit to Morocco from February 17 to 20.
