Illegal Night-Time Well Drilling Sparks Outrage Amid Morocco’s Drought Crisis

Many Moroccans have expressed their outrage at the proliferation of clandestine wells, in a context of severe drought and water stress.
These Moroccans denounced the drilling of clandestine wells by the owners of agricultural farms in several regions of the province of Tata, reports Al3omk. Despite the strengthening of surveillance by the water police, wells continue to be drilled without authorization. The unscrupulous now operate in the middle of the night.
To stop the bleeding, the inhabitants of the region are calling on the competent authorities to act quickly to put an end to these practices and prevent the exploitation of the region’s water resources.
It should be recalled that the Council of Government had approved in December the draft decree relating to the drilling license. The text sets the conditions and procedure for granting the drilling license, as well as the terms for practicing the drilling profession.
