Illegal Construction Atop Fez Mosque Sparks Neighborhood Outrage

In Fez, an unusual event is embarrassing the residents of the Riad district, located on the Aïn Chkef road. It is an anarchic dwelling under construction on the roof of the neighborhood mosque.
The residents of the Riad district, located on the Aïn Chkef road in Fez are dismayed. At the origin of this emotion, the ongoing construction of an "apartment with cramped rooms".
According to them, they have, through their neighborhood association, sent several verbal and written requests regarding the irregularities and violations of urban planning laws, carried out by the president of the association that manages this mosque, to make themselves heard. But they regret that their requests "unfortunately remained a dead letter, despite the destruction of part of the mosque reserved for women to build an apartment with cramped rooms".
Faced with this situation, the Riad neighborhood association sees only one solution. "We ask that this mosque be managed directly by the services of the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs," wishes Mohamed Alaoui, vice-president of the association.
