Casablanca's Hassan II Mosque Opens Luxurious Ocean-Fed Hammams to Public

The bath services of the "Hassan II" Grand Mosque, located in Casablanca, officially opened their doors to the public on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. The peculiarity of this religious building is that it offers both Moorish baths and modern "health baths" equipped with aquatic animations drawing their water directly from the natural wealth of the Atlantic Ocean.

For the benefit of the users of this mosque, two hammams are available and are built on 3000 m2 each. Respectively, the traditional women’s hammam and the men’s hammam are located below the esplanade of the Mosque. Each of them consists of a reception hall including a tea room, locker rooms and a Moorish bath made up of three rooms (lukewarm, hot and very hot). Various service areas meet all the users, including a scrubbing and soaping room and a "health bath". The latter includes a large 300 m3 multi-function heated seawater pool, 1.20 meters deep.

Concerned to serve the Moroccan population, Mohamed Berkaoui, Secretary General of the Foundation, estimated that well-being must be accessible to as wide a public as possible, a principle dear to the Foundation and its partner, the "Deep nature group" which, according to him, plan affordable basic services.

In addition, the "Hassan II" Mosque, built from 1986 to 1993 in Casablanca, is one of the largest mosques in the world and the largest in size in the Maghreb. It is the symbol of the city of Casablanca with the tallest minaret in the world. It can accommodate a population of around 105,000 worshippers. The prayer hall, for its part, can accommodate 25,000 worshippers.
