IKEA Morocco Ordered to Pay Damages for Breach of Contract in Furniture Assembly Case

For not honoring its contractual commitments, IKEA Morocco is ordered to pay damages to one of its Moroccan customers. This is a decision of the court of first instance in Rabat.
IKEA Morocco must pay 20,000 dirhams in damages to this consumer. The decision, dated March 25, also stipulates "the urgent execution of the sentence" and "the assumption of court costs by the condemned brand", reports Le 360.
At the beginning of this year, the client, I.O, had filed a complaint with the court against the brand in Morocco, for non-compliance with its contractual commitments towards him, that is to say the assembly of kit furniture that the consumer had acquired two months earlier. After a long wait and several reminders, I.O called on a bailiff for the finding, before filing a complaint with the court. Before the court, the company claimed that this delay was due to the client. But, for lack of proof, the court ruled in favor of the client.
It should be noted that this case is one of the many that the company must manage around the world. For example, in France, the brand, suspected of having placed its employees and job applicants under surveillance, could be fined up to two million euros and one year in prison for a former CEO.
