Iconic Botero Sculpture "The Horse" Graces Rabat Museum Entrance

Installed at the main entrance of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, "The Horse", the mythical and very famous work of the great Colombian sculptor, Fernando Botero, seduces more than one Rabati. At the same time, several other works are exhibited, on the occasion of the events honoring the 20 years of the reign of King Mohammed VI.
Fernando Botero is no longer to be presented. The great Colombian sculptor born in Medellin in 1932 is known for his works which are, for the most part, atypical characters, with round and voluminous forms, which allow his style to be identified.
Botero’s sculptures tour the planet and today belong to the urban landscape of the world’s great cities. In Rabat, Botero’s sculpture, which does not go unnoticed, is installed at the heart of the capital, with its 3 meters in height and its 2 tons of bronze, which arouse curiosities.
Next to the imposing "Horse" of the great Colombian master, we find the work of another great name in Moroccan sculpture, Ikram Kabbaj.
Born in Casablanca in 1960, this activist for the integration of sculpture in public spaces has distinguished herself a lot during the sculpture symposiums she has organized in several cities of the Kingdom, sharing her vision of an art appreciated by many people. Her work, which takes the form of a triptych of three polished black marble sculptures, attracts crowds, as it is so striking in its uniqueness.
According to a press release from the National Foundation of Museums (FNM), the installation of these two sculptures, which reflects the will of King Mohammed VI to make art more accessible, is also an invitation to discover the collections of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, from the outside but also to explore the surrounding spaces.
