Hundreds of Unaccompanied Moroccan Minors Remain in Spanish Enclave of Ceuta

Around 810 Moroccan minors would still be in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, according to local authorities. These minors are currently housed in reception centers.
A month after the unprecedented migration wave in the enclave of Ceuta, 830 minors would still be on site after entering on May 17 and 18 through the Tarajal border post, reports the Spanish media Cope, adding that this figure does not take into account those who are wandering in the port area or those who are accompanied and housed in other cities.
In detail, the Ceuta government would have registered 279 minors in the temporary shelter of Piniers, a place that was activated during the pandemic and which was reopened in an emergency.
232 other Moroccan minors are housed in the Tarajal warehouses located next to the border with Morocco and which were the first spaces opened to accommodate these children.
220 others - including several sub-Saharan Africans - are in the covered sports complex of Santa Amelia, a place that was also used during the first months of the Covid-19 crisis.
Finally, 79 other minors were taken to the La Esperanza reception center, thanks to the departure of various groups who had been in Ceuta for many months and who were distributed in different communities as part of the reception program launched by the government.
In addition, the local authorities have urged the central government to act "as soon as possible" so that humanitarian measures are supported to guarantee the tranquility and security of the citizens of the enclave.
