Human Rights Group Condemns Morocco’s Plan to Reopen Ceuta Border Crossing

The Northern Observatory for Human Rights (ONDH) denounced the decision of the Moroccan government to soon restore the situation of the Bab Sebta border crossing.
Reopening the Sebta border crossing is to continue to humiliate Moroccan citizens, to undermine their dignity. This is what the Northern Observatory for Human Rights (ONDH) indicated during its media outing following the government’s press conference, dated December 5, 2019.
Faced with the Executive’s decision to restore things, the ONDH expressed its surprise and recalled that the closure of Bab Sebta, on the initiative of the Moroccan government, was among other things motivated by the fight against smuggling.
According to the Observatory, renouncing this decision means the return of this activity which takes place under difficult conditions. Furthermore, the ONDH denounced the Executive’s inability to find solutions for the development of the North region, as indicated in a press release.
