Hotel Owner Among 5 Charged in 4.5-Ton Cannabis Bust in Morocco

Five individuals involved in the case of the seizure of 4.5 tons of cannabis in Safi were presented before the Correctional Chamber for possession, transportation, attempted export and international drug trafficking. The facts date back to the end of last week.
They are a total of 13 individuals involved in the case of the seizure of 4.5 tons of cannabis, but only 5 are still in the hands of justice. It is the interception of a large truck transporting goods that directed the gendarmes towards a hotel located in a deserted and rocky area, opposite the beach called "Channinat" where the large quantity of cannabis resin was deposited.
The search allowed the seizure of 4.5 tons of Chira (cannabis resin) packaged and hidden inside and outside the hotel unit. The gendarmes quickly discovered that the hotel, which belongs to the main accused (a Moroccan who returned from Malaysia 10 years ago), is in fact the base of the traffic, reports the daily Al Akhbar.
The accused were presented, last Tuesday, by direct summons remotely, before the Correctional Chamber, with the following charges against them: possession, transportation, attempted export and drug trafficking.
The investigators also got their hands on logistical equipment, including a sophisticated zodiac and a large quantity of fuel that will be used to transfer the hashish via the maritime access point on the northern coast of Safi.
