High Winds Subside: Algeciras-Morocco Ferry Routes Reopen, Tarifa Port Remains Closed

The maritime companies linking the port of Algeciras to Ceuta and Tanger Med have resumed their departures this Thursday morning, after most of the links were suspended the day before due to a windstorm raging in the Strait region.
Port sources have confirmed to Europa Press that the links between Algeciras and the two Moroccan ports have been reactivated this morning, but the port of Tarifa remains closed to navigation for the line to Tanger Ville.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) maintains the yellow alert level for wind in the area, at least until 3 p.m. this Thursday. Wind gusts have exceeded fifty kilometers per hour, with peaks reaching eighty. The orange alert level, of significant risk, for coastal phenomena is also maintained until 3 p.m.
This storm, which has caused extreme weather conditions, has made navigation difficult in the Strait region. The maritime companies have suspended their links to ensure the safety of passengers and crews. Passengers traveling between Spain and Morocco are advised to contact the maritime companies for the latest information on departures and arrivals.
