Hervé Renard Resigns from Saudi Arabia, Set to Coach French Women’s Team Ahead of World Cup

Tipped to replace Corinne Diacre at the head of the French women’s national football team, former Morocco coach Hervé Renard has resigned from his position in Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Football Federation.
Hervé Renard’s last match as head coach of the Saudi Arabian team was played last night against Bolivia. Unfortunately for the Saudis, the Bolivians won 2-1. "We tried to dissuade him, but he was determined to return to his country and coach a national team. We cannot prevent him from realizing his dream," said the Saudi Football Federation.
Four months before the Women’s World Cup in Australia-New Zealand (July 20 - August 20), the 54-year-old coach should, without any surprise, take over the management of the Bleues team in place of Corinne Diacre, who was fired on March 9 due to internal unrest. According to some media, the French Football Federation should officially announce the appointment of the former Atlas Lions coach to allow him to start preparations for the women’s football World Cup with France.
Even if the federation had several names on the table, Renard’s stood out due to his multiple experiences at the international level. It’s true that he has only coached men’s teams, but he remains an asset for the Bleues who have to play four preparation matches before their first match at the World Cup on July 23 in Sydney against Jamaica.
