New Hemodialysis Center Approved for Al Hoceima, Morocco to Serve Kidney Patients

A partnership agreement on the construction and equipment of a Hemodialysis Center was adopted by the Al Hoceima Municipal Council at its regular session in October.

The project was the subject of an agreement signed between the Ministry of Health, the Provincial Human Development Committee, the Provincial Council, the Municipality of Al Hoceima, the Al Nour Association for Social Works and the Provincial Association for the Promotion of Proximity Activities in the city. With a maximum capacity of 50 beneficiaries, the center will provide accommodation infrastructure for patients with chronic renal failure, particularly the needy categories. It also aims to promote the health sector, improve the quality of services provided to patients and ensure the sustainability of projects carried out for the benefit of the inhabitants of the province.

The terms of the agreement require the Al Hoceima Health Delegation to guarantee the necessary medical and paramedical staff for the operation of the center, contribute to the preventive maintenance of the dialysis machines and the water treatment room, as well as the management of medical waste from the machines. The Provincial Council, for its part, undertakes to guarantee an annual subsidy of around 200,000 dirhams to cover the expenses of the center’s users, while the Municipality of Al Hoceima undertakes to allocate an annual subsidy of 150,000 dirhams for a period of five years to cover the necessary expenses.

In addition, the Al Nour Association for Social Works in Al Hoceima undertakes to build the center in accordance with the standards in force and to equip it with medical and technical equipment, while the Provincial Association for the Promotion of Proximity Activities will provide the necessary human resources for the operation of the center.

The implementation of this agreement supports the fight against precariousness, which is an essential component of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH). It also reflects the Kingdom’s determination to establish a decent living environment that preserves the dignity of vulnerable people, notes La Map.
