The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued an alert regarding the presence of histamine in a batch of smoked sardines in sunflower oil of Moroccan origin from the brand El Menu.
These smoked sardines in sunflower oil from Morocco (batch number: L202CEB0 234 60), to be consumed preferably before 21/01/2023, have been distributed in the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Madrid and the Valencian Community. But it is not excluded that they are also found in other autonomous communities.
The Agency specifies that it has already informed the competent authorities of the autonomous communities so that they can ensure the withdrawal of the product concerned from the marketing channels. So far, no cases have been reported regarding this alert, the Agency adds, which recommends that people who have purchased this product not consume it and return it to the point of sale for replacement or refund.
