Harmattan Energy Takes Over Dakhla Wind-Blockchain Project in Morocco

Established in Dakhla to engage the kingdom on a sustainable path in the fields of renewable energy and computing, the company Soluna Technologies, Ltd. is now called Harmattan Energy, Ltd. A name change that comes after Mechanical Technology, Inc. (MTI) acquired the Soluna Holdings subsidiary on August 12, 2021.
According to statements by the CEO, John Belizaire, the new company will maintain the Harmattan Wind wind project and manage all development activities.
"Harmattan has totally inspired our business model for Soluna, which will be an important test bed for the first blockchain computing project of its kind with vertically integrated wind power," he said, adding that "this project has the potential to be the largest in Africa and to leverage a huge wind resource. Our renewable energy development business model coupled with sustainable computing can open up economic prospects on a continental scale."
The various components of the project, namely the wind farm on over 10,000 hectares, including the data centers on the site that use renewable energy, will be continued, assures the official.
