Hakimi Arrives in Marrakech for African Ballon d’Or Ceremony

The Moroccan right-back of PSG Achraf Hakimi is coming to Marrakech to attend the African Ballon d’Or ceremony and hopes to win it. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president of his club, will also make the trip by private jet to support him. His family is also present.
Will Achraf Hakimi be the first Moroccan to receive the African Ballon d’Or since Mustapha Hadji in 1998? He is among the favorites. With PSG, the Moroccan right-back was crowned French champion and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, reports Le Parisien. With the Moroccan Olympic team, he won the bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, participating with a magnificent goal against Egypt in the 3rd place match (6-0).
In the list unveiled by CAF, we also find Simon Adingra, winner of the CAN with Ivory Coast this year, Serhou Guirassy, a prolific scorer for Stuttgart then Borussia Dortmund, Ademola Lookman, triple scorer in the Europa League final and finally Ronwen Williams, the impressive South African goalkeeper of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Who will succeed Nigerian Victor Osimhen, crowned African player of the year 2023? The 2024 African Ballon d’Or ceremony takes place at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, this Monday, December 16, at 7pm.
