Hakim Ziyech, Symbol of Palestinian Struggle
Thousands of people marched this weekend in Rabat in support of the Palestinian cause. Protesters prominently displayed portraits of footballer Hakim Ziyech to commend his positions on the conflict.
From early morning, crowds marched from Bab El Had to Rabat-Ville train station. This mobilization brought together multiple unions and political parties. Amid Palestinian flags, the image of Hakim Ziyech was omnipresent on placards. Participants used the athlete’s likeness to denounce the situation in the Gaza Strip and illustrate Moroccan solidarity.

The rally, notably supported by the PJD party, carried specific demands. Protesters spoke out against a new Israeli law allowing the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners. They also demanded an end to violence, condemned the blocking of places of worship in Jerusalem, and reiterated their opposition to normalizing relations with Israel.
