Gulf Cooperation Council Backs Morocco’s Territorial Integrity in Western Sahara Dispute

The leaders of the six countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), meeting on Tuesday, January 5, in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia, have given firm support to Morocco and its territorial integrity.
The final declaration of the GCC, at the end of its 41st meeting in the Saudi city of Al-Ula, insists on "the importance of the special strategic partnership between the Cooperation Council and Morocco and calls for intensifying efforts to realize the action plans agreed within the framework of this strategic partnership." This meeting, according to the declaration, marks the beginning of a reconciliation between the GCC countries and Qatar.
The GCC countries affirm that they support the measures taken by Morocco to enforce respect for the free movement of goods and people in the buffer zone of El Guerguerat, thus opposing all actions or practices aimed at influencing free movement in this area.
