Guaranteed sunshine: two Moroccan cities in the global Top 10 for Easter holidays!
The travel agency easyJet Holidays has published its "sunshine reliability index", placing Marrakech and Agadir in the global top 10 destinations most reliable for enjoying the sun during the Easter holidays. This study, based on the analysis of 25 years of climate data, confirms the attractiveness of the Moroccan tourism offer compared to the competition of the Red Sea and the Atlantic islands.
According to the data provided, Marrakech ranks seventh globally with average maximum temperatures between 26°C and 27°C for the month of April. The ochre city has a sunshine probability between 90% and 95%, with an average of 9 to 10 hours of sunshine per day. Agadir closely follows in eighth place, offering temperatures of 23°C to 24°C and a sunshine reliability of 93%. These indicators place the two Moroccan cities ahead of popular European destinations such as the Algarve in Portugal or Sicily in Italy.
The ranking is dominated by the Egyptian resort of Sharm El Sheikh, which records a reliability score of 100% with maximums of 30°C. The island of Sal, in Cape Verde, occupies the second position with a probability of good weather close to 100% and an almost zero risk of rain. The Canary Islands, represented by Gran Canaria and Tenerife, complete the top of the table with confidence indices exceeding 90%.
The reliability index is based on a comprehensive study of temperatures, daily sunshine duration and average rainfall over the past two decades. In addition to the climate, the report takes into account the financial accessibility and the quality of leisure infrastructures. For the Moroccan destinations, the combination of guaranteed sunshine and the diversity of activities offered, such as visiting the souks in Marrakech or water sports in Agadir, constitutes a major competitive advantage for the 2026 season.
The ranking also mentions Paphos in Cyprus, Faro in Portugal and Sicily as secondary options for the Easter holidays. Although these Mediterranean destinations offer pleasant spring conditions, they have higher probabilities of rain, ranging between 12% and 20%.
