Two more people were placed under formal investigation on October 22 in the inquiry into the fatal Grenoble shooting. According to a police source quoted on October 29 in an AFP report, two individuals who had taken refuge in Morocco allegedly ordered the attack. A man already imprisoned in France is alleged to have been tasked with recruiting the gunmen from his cell.

On May 26, at around 9:30 p.m., gunshots rang out in front of the Mistral district football club premises. Men gathered on Avenue Rhin-et-Danube were targeted by occupants of a vehicle. One of them, aged 33, died after being shot twice in the back.

The initial toll was three injured. The next day, Grenoble prosecutor Étienne Manteaux raised it to four: a fifth man, who had been shot in the leg, went to the hospital on his own, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

In the days after the shooting, investigators arrested the alleged driver of the vehicle and two minors. All three were placed under formal investigation and remanded in custody. According to the police source, the driver admitted her involvement but said she had acted under threat. One of the teenagers denies the charges; the other has remained silent.

The investigation is now focusing on the planning of the attack. The man placed under formal investigation on October 22 is alleged to have acted as an intermediary for the two suspected masterminds who had taken refuge in Morocco. He is suspected of assembling the team responsible for the shooting while he himself was in prison.

A woman placed under formal investigation on the same date is suspected of helping him with logistics. She was placed under judicial supervision. The man, already in custody, has now been remanded in custody in this case.
