Brutal Teen Murder Solved: Six Arrested in Saint-Denis School Attack

The murder of Farid A., an 18-year-old young man, violently attacked by individuals armed with baseball bats, iron bars and a hammer in front of the Frédéric Bartholdi vocational high school in Saint-Denis in January 2024, will not go unpunished. Nearly a year and a half later, six young people have been arrested and indicted.

The investigation led by the Territorial Security resulted in the arrest of ten people on Monday. At the end of their custody, six people, including four who were minors at the time of the events, were indicted on Friday for murder in an organized gang, a year and a half after the death of Farid, a high school student from Saint-Denis, the Bobigny prosecutor’s office announced on Saturday. According to the prosecutor’s office, these individuals "remained silent or disputed the facts they were accused of".

"One was placed under judicial supervision, three were placed in pre-trial detention and two were incarcerated pending an adversarial debate," Bobigny prosecutor Éric Mathais reported in a statement, specifying that the prosecutor’s office had requested the placement in pre-trial detention of all the accused.

On January 17, 2024, Farid A. was "violently attacked by individuals armed with baseball bats, iron bars and a hammer," near his high school in Saint-Denis. The 18-year-old did not survive the attack. He succumbed to his injuries three days later. "The facts could have been committed in a context of rivalry between neighborhoods in the city of Saint-Denis," the prosecutor specified.
