Guyanese Man's Hotel Death: Two Arrested, Third Suspect Flees to Morocco in Cocaine-Linked Murder

One of the men suspected of being involved in the murder of the 35-year-old Guyanese man found dead on August 23, 2022 at the foot of a hotel in Viry-Chatillon (Essonne) after being thrown out of the 6th floor of this establishment, is on the run in Morocco. On Friday, two suspects were arrested, indicted, and then incarcerated.

The murder of Franck, a 35-year-old Guyanese man, is about to be solved three years later. According to a source close to the case, two men, aged 29 and 36, were indicted on Friday, June 27 in Évry-Courcouronnes (Essonne) for murder as part of an organized gang before being incarcerated, reports Le Parisien. They would be involved in the death of the thirty-year-old by throwing him, during the night of August 22 to 23, 2022, out of the window of a hotel in Viry-Chatillon (Essonne). The investigators are looking for a third suspect who has taken refuge in Morocco.

On August 22, 2022 around 12:15 am, the police found Franck’s body in a pool of blood, with broken and dislocated limbs, on Avenue du Général-de-Gaulle, in front of the Kyriad hotel. Admitted to the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris (13th arrondissement), he succumbed to his injuries two days later. The cause of death of this resident of Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, in French Guiana, known to the police for road offenses, was a cocaine affair.

The investigators are interested in the tenant of the hotel room where the events took place. It emerges from the interrogation that he would be the childhood friend of the victim. He recounts that he arrived a few days earlier in the Paris region and was considering joining the army. This prospect fell through. He would then have decided to take a hotel in Viry-Chatillon. He would later have called Franck, "a cousin and friend, who has been living in the area for a while." The latter would have joined him at the hotel on the evening of August 22, 2022. A third man joined them.

The third man was manipulating his phone, before leaving the room "on the pretext of going to get alcohol at the convenience store." But he won’t come back alone. He will be accompanied by three strangers armed with a pistol, shouting "police." They "would then have demanded that Franck ’hand over the stuff’ and would have inflicted violent blows on him. The thirty-year-old would have climbed onto the desk near the open window. In the process, one of the criminals would have pushed Franck into the void. The investigators then suspect the Guyanese man of being at the head of a network for the importation of "cocaine" by air using mules.

The agents of the criminal brigade of Versailles and the interdepartmental judicial police service (SIPJ) of Évry in charge of the investigation "searched the victim’s pants" and found the keys to an apartment located in the municipality. During a search carried out on August 23, the police found 660 g of cocaine, made up of 67 capsules, and 4,000 euros and arrested two people who were inside the apartment.

The investigators also discovered that the so-called childhood friend of Franck made several rotations during the year. He is suspected of having deposited his merchandise in the famous Viry apartment. And it is this merchandise that the trio of criminals wanted to steal. The three traffickers denied the facts. After being brought before the court, they were indicted in Évry for these drug-related offenses before being incarcerated.

The investigations stalled at one point. A witness to the events finally made it possible to trace back to two suspects, recognized on the police lineups. Thanks to an anonymous tip, the investigators managed to identify a third and then a fourth suspect. Three of these criminals were then arrested on June 24, 2025 in Vitry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne).
